Wink ("we", "the app") is built by Atakan Akbaba. This page explains what data Wink touches and what we never collect.
Wink uses third-party AI services to translate. Before any text leaves your device, the app shows an in-app consent screen that discloses what data is sent, names the services it is sent to (Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude for translation, ElevenLabs for text-to-speech), and asks for your explicit permission. No text is sent to any AI service until you agree. If you do not agree, translation features are not used and no text is transmitted. These providers process the submitted text solely to return a result and provide protections equivalent to those described in this policy.
Wink is an AI translation and conversation assistant supporting 43 languages. It includes a keyboard extension, share extension, phrasebook, chat coach, and voice translation.
Free-tier users may see ads served by Google AdMob. On first launch we request permission to use your Advertising Identifier (IDFA) via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. You can allow or decline at the prompt, and change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
If you allow tracking, the IDFA and limited device data (device model, OS version, coarse region, ad interaction events) may be shared with Google AdMob to personalize ads. If you decline, AdMob still shows non-personalized ads. Google's handling is governed by their privacy policy. Premium subscribers see no ads.
Wink Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed monthly through your Apple ID.
iOS requires Full Access for keyboards that use the network. We use it only to read the clipboard when you tap "Translate" and send text to our backend. No keystrokes are logged. The keyboard does not run in the background.
Speech recognition runs on-device via Apple's Speech framework. Audio never leaves your device. Only the transcribed text is sent for translation.
Translations are not stored. Usage counters reset monthly. Receipts are kept only to validate subscriptions.
Wink is rated 12+ and not directed at children under 13.
No personal data is collected, so there is no account to delete. Uninstalling removes all local data. To erase your anonymous counter, email us and we will process it within 7 days.
We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the latest revision.
